Women entrepreneurs play a crucial role in driving economic growth and social progress, yet they continue to face systemic barriers that limit their potential. This study explores the landscape of women entrepreneurship in Maharashtra, analyzing the key challenges and opportunities that shape their businesses. Using primary data collected from five major districts—Kolhapur, Mumbai, Pune, Satara, and Solapur—the study assesses firm-level constraints, financial access, market reach, and policy support. Findings reveal that despite an increase in women-owned enterprises, access to formal financial institutions remains limited, with a majority relying on personal savings and informal networks for capital. Additionally, market entry barriers, socio-cultural constraints, and inadequate business support mechanisms hinder the scalability of women-led businesses. The study highlights the importance of targeted policy interventions to enhance financial inclusion, skill development, and market integration for women entrepreneurs. It includes policy recommendations aimed at fostering a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Maharashtra.
